A policeman in Bayelsa State on Tuesday, November 8, killed his colleague over N20,000. The officers were said to have engaged in a heated argument over how the money would be shared.
It was gathered that the two officers went on an operation where they got N20, 000 as a gift. They were said to have engaged in a heated argument over how the money would be shared.
It was learnt that the deceased wanted their Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to have a share in the money but the other officer rejected the idea.
Following an argument over the matter, the killer cop brought out his gun and shot his colleague to death, report said.
The deceased, a native of Ondewari community in Southern Ijaw Local Government area of Bayelsa, is survived by two wives and children.
His remains have been deposited at the morgue of Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa. Sympathisers were seen trooping to the deceased residence at Swali to pay condolences to his family. Some of them, who spoke to NAN, described him as a “jolly good fellow.”
Reacting to enquiries on the incident, the spokesman for the Bayelsa Police Command, Mr Asinim Butswat, said he has not been briefed.
